WGHS Names New Assistant Activities Director
WEBSTER GROVES, MO, May 3, 2022: Webster Groves High School is pleased to announce that Chris Johnson will be the Assistant Activities Director starting in the 2022-23 school year. Coach Johnson is currently in his first year at WGHS where he has been teaching social studies as well as an assistant football and basketball coach.
Coach Johnson has extensive coaching experience over the last 21 years. Throughout his tenure, he has coached basketball, baseball, track and field as well as football for all 21, including seven years at Denton Guyer High School in Denton, Texas where he was on their staff for three state semifinal appearances and 1 state championship appearance. Prior to WGHS, Coach Johnson was also the head football coach at DeSoto High School for five seasons. He holds his Missouri Principals Certification and is currently working to complete a Specialists Degree in Educational Administration.
"I'm honored to have been given this opportunity to create a positive impact not just on our sports programs, but on all activities here at WGHS,” said Johnson. “I have been working for over 20 years, trying to build positive relationships with students, parents, faculty and staff wherever I’ve been. Regardless of my new role, that will not change. The community and tradition here at Webster are truly unique and I am blessed once again to have been given this opportunity."
WGHS Athletic Director Jerry Collins said, “We are excited to have Coach Johnson join our activities office staff on a full time basis. He comes to us with many years of experience working and coaching in a variety of sports and school settings. He has also been working towards becoming a school administrator for the last several years and has already filled various roles within our department since joining WGHS this school year.”
